Prof. Vincenzo Battista, a teacher in the Italian high School, was born in 1957 in L’Aquila, the capital city of the Abruzzo Region, where he lives and works. His deep interest in ethnographic and environmental research on the field with a special attention to the lesser known local communities produced a remarkable number of published material: books, essays, catalogues, articles, photo services, as well was many exhibitions and last but not least, the very recent establishments of the project of Abruzzo digital museums.

It is thanks to the field observation of the landscape and communities of the Region, with their typical imprints and often hidden characters, that it was possible to record the rich heritage of the region, witness of the history and economic and social life of the local communities. Through his keen attention to this hidden side of the region and the several projects  out for such Institutions as the Abruzzo Region, the Administrations of the four Provinces, the Comunità Montane, the municipalities, as well as Associations, publishers, Foundations and Banks, that Prof. Battista’s research helped to record and inform about the rich landscape of the cultural heritage hidden inside the local identities, which might otherwise be left to oblivion and to the inevitable fading away from the social and cultural texture of the Abruzzo Region.
